Thoughts on Tisha B’av

Avigails Camra Pictures 2017 1358.JPGHellooo my Beauties! How’s a going? Next Tuesday is the Fast of תשעה באב (the ninth of Av) ,for all those that don’t know- Av is the hebrew month that we are in now and on the Ninth of Av both Temples (the first and second temple) were destroyed we have mourned their destruction every year on this date for two thousand years (1949 years since the destruction of the second temple). So I wanted to share some teachings about Tisha Bav, that I found really beautiful. (Most of these teachings are from Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach)

“In the Holy Temple, the most important part was the singing-the singing of the holy tribe, the Levites. According to our tradition, there were 50,000 instruments and 100,000 voices. They would alternate every few minutes, day and night. They would sing and play for the One, for the only One. Every note and every melody was the deepest prayer in the world. Those songs and prayers were so deep, they reached into the deepest depths of every human being. You cannot hear those melodies and prayers without returning to the One, the only One…”  DSCN2980 (2)

“The month of destruction is called Menachem Av, Menachem is the hebrew word for “consolation”, Av is one of the hebrew words for Father, so the name of this month means that God ,our Father in heaven, is begging us, his children, “Please, console me!” , “Nachamu, Nachamu Ami…” (Isaiah 40;1) “Console, console my people”. God is begging us “Please my people console me! Please!” and what do we answer? Menachem Av-How do we console our Father? We promise you that this will be the year. This year, will come back to you. This year we’ll come back to the temple. This year will answer your nocking. This year we will return…”

For as much as we cry and our heart is broken over this state of גלות (exile) he hurts so much more, he has been hurt so much more “On him whom they have pierced…” (Zechariah 12:10). Meanwhile we are waiting, waiting for the Mashiach to come and take us out of this exile. Waiting for the ‘א’ (alef) to turn גולה(exile) into גאולה (redemption). And while we wait we mourn and fast so

“The fasts of the fourth,fifth,seventh and tenth months will become joyful and glad occasions…” (zechariah 8:19)

I Feel so ALIVE!

imageHelloooo! How are y’all doing over there? surviving the winter blues? Have you ever felt dead but you were actually still alive(that doesn’t make much sense now does it?), like your body is totally falling apart and your just decaying but then miraculously suddenly you felt like you were given life and you feel so alive suddenly? I have, I have experienced it countless times where God just pulled me out of my pain and disease and set me free, where he literately breathed life into me. I think it’s a place G-d wants us to be when we are on our faces drugged down with harsh circumstances, addictions, bad emotions and spirits and we throw it all on him and he sets us free, he brings us life. Which shouldn’t be surprising since he is the way the truth and the life.

Let’s be honest a second, very few of us actually wake up saying, ‘wow I’m alive! It’s a miracle!’ But it is!! So why don’t we? Why do we take so much for granted without even thinking about it? Let’s change that. God didn’t mean for us to drag through the day just trying to survive another day on this earth, we were meant to thrive through our day, to be alive. If he’s life and we are meant to be like our father then why don’t we act as if we are full of life? Remind yourself every day that he has set us free! We belong to the kingdom of life not death, stomp it in Satan’s face I choose life and I will live in the kingdom of life forever.  Do you feel it? WE ARE ALIVE! and we have a choice every day, are you gonna change your perspective and make it full of life?

Start  with thanking him for EVERYTHING, ask him to show you things that you take for granted, and acknowledge that you are a walking miracle. (and if you have doubts about being a miracle are not, maybe you should go back and learn some anatomy:) So you wanna join me in a I’M ALIVE PEOPLE happy dance? ok, ok you don’t have to take it that far I’ll just dance by myself. Talking about alive here’s a great song check it out-

Love you guys! Avigail

I’ve been grieving these last couple days. I’ve been grieving the destruction of Amonah. The destruction of homes in Israel by us. By my police, by my Government. Oy, how we’ve sinned! How have we’ve gotten to such a low level? To שפל השפלים! I’m ashamed and disappointed, how can my people , that I love so much turn there back on there fellow brothers? This is what happens when we aren’t based on the Torah, on the TRUTH. We make up our own ideals, our own IDOLS.

My heart breaks thinking of the children of these families, torn away from there home, town and world. Will they ever be able to forget such a trauma? The soldiers and police that they look up to so much, turning there backs on them? The poor mothers having to answer there children’s why’s? When there is no answer.

Last night while reading my Tanach this passages stood out to me and offered the comfort that I needed:
4 “You have been a refuge for the poor,
a refuge for the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the storm
and a shade from the heat.
For the breath of the ruthless
is like a storm driving against a wall
5 and like the heat of the desert.
You silence the uproar of foreigners;
as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud,
so the song of the ruthless is stilled.
6 On this mountin the Lord Almighty will prepare
a feast of rich food for all peoples,
a banquet of aged wine—
the best of meats and the finest of wines.
7 On this mountain he will destroy
the shroud that enfolds all peoples,
the sheet that covers all nations;
8 he will swallow up death forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears
from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace
from all the earth.
The Lord has spoken.
9 In that day they will say,“Surely this is our God;
we trusted in him, and he saved us.
This is the Lord, we trusted in him;
let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
10 The hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain;
but Moab will be trampled in their land
as straw is trampled down in the manure.
11 They will stretch out their hands in it,
as swimmers stretch out their hands to swim.
God will bring down their pride
despite the cleverness[a] of their hands.
12 He will bring down your high fortified walls
and lay them low;
he will bring them down to the ground,
to the very dust.”( Isaiah chapter 25)

Amonah was located at the top of a mountain, 901 meters above sea level. Here’s is a good video that explains briefly the story of Amonah

Please keep us in prayer! Pray for the families and for a change of heart in my people.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”img_0733

Shabbat Shalom!

IMG_2830Hellooo! How are all of you doing? I hope your doing fabulous!  I want to share about some stuff G-d has been teaching me throughout these past few months . I had a pretty bad flare up (with my crohn’s) for a couple months, not too long ago. After every hard season I gain and learn so many amazing lessons, it’s crazy how G-d uses these times to teach me so much! I think the lesson that really stuck with me this past time was to  never give up hope and that I am never ever alone When we go through hard seasons, it’s never ever used for nothing, we might not see the reason for it today, tomorrow or even in this earthly life, but G-d does. He sees the whole picture. It will turn out for good Because he IS GOOD.

“Give thanks to the Lord  for he is GOOD: His love endures forever” (Psalm 145:9)

There’s a parable told about a king who was passing through a town and heard a women screaming for help, for she was being robbed. The king heard her cry and came and rescued her from the robbers. The king returned to his castle, and asked the woman to marry him. The woman refused to come and live with him. The king longed to be with her so  he found the same robbers, that robbed her on the day she cried out to him, and told them to go and robb her again. This time he stood waiting until he heard her cry and came to ‘save’ the day once again. This time the women willingly went and lived with him in the castle. The women asked the king: “why did you send the robbers again?” And the king softly answered: ” because I desired to hear your voice”.

(The king here is G-d and the women, is us)

Many times the only way we will sit still and listen to G-d, is when we are smacked down on our faces with harsh circumstances. When the life we thought we had all put together, under (our) control,gets smashed. Sadly these are usually the only times we cry out to God, our ABBA. This is where he wants you! When we realize we can do noth-ing without him, and cry out for him. He yearns to hear us cry out to him! He is  standing there waiting for us to just run under his sheltering wings. “And you shall seek me and find me, for you shall search for me with all your heart” (Jer. 29;13)

lets us use these hard seasons to turn to our Abba, and cry out to him, for he hears our cries. He is the only one who can truly comfort and understand our anguished  spirit. And one day he will turn our mourning  into rejoicing! We can rejoice while we are still suffering for we Know that the best is yet to come! (It’s not easy though).
” You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy” (psalm 30:11)img_5170

imageI’ve been wanting to write this post for awhile now, but I just didn’t know how to put  all my thoughts together, I still don’t but I’m gonna try my best and hope for the best:).

I wanna talk about  those times when we aren’t receiving what we were promised from G-d,  when we are just meant to WAIT and be still.

“Be still and know that I’m G-d”( psalm 46:10)

Wait a minute! If G-d promises me something doesn’t it just happen immediately? That’s what I thought. But this is not true,  sometimes he makes us wait until he fulfills his promises, sometimes we don’t even see the fulfillment of his promises while on this earth (Avraham never saw himself becoming the father of many nations while he lived on this earth, but he has seen it from above from the Throne of Glory!).  If G-d doesn’t fulfill his promise immediately, it doesn’t mean G-d forbid he wont fulfill his promise! Our G-d is the same yesterday, today and forever! he is the same G-d who parted the Red Sea, brought Jews back to Israel after TWO THOUSAND years and has done miracle after miracle! This is the same G-d we serve today and he WILL fulfill his promises in his timing!

“G-d is not a man that he should lie…or has he spoken and he will not make good?” (Numbers 23:19)

How do you wait for G-ds timing? What do you do while waiting? This is how I felt I was to wait, pray, quote scriptures back at G-d , beg G-d to fulfill his promises and wait with expectancy!

“My soul waits for the Lord, more then a watchmen wait for morning”(psalm 13:6)image

Rosh Hashanah-more than apples and honey

imageOשנה טובה ומתוקה! Shannah Tovah umetuakah!

I want to share something I’ve been trying to focus on this past Rosh Hashannah and in general the past week.

Rosh Hashanah Has such a luxury feel to it, we’re eating good food, having a good time with our family and friends, we are resting and relaxing,  there’s no work that needs to be done. Life seems good, what else would we need?  That’s the problem. We feel like we aren’t missing anything. Here’s a little story that explains my point.

Three decades ago one of The Ba’al Shem Tov, z”l, students was making a trip to Israel. Back then a trip to Israel was full of dangers and risks, the student went to The Ba’al Shem Tov and asked for a blessing and advice. The Rabbi blessed him and gave him one advice, to make sure he thought twice before speaking. The student left and went on his journey to Israel.

In the middle of the voyage, there was a huge storm that forced the ship to land on an island, it was Friday and the sun was setting, Shabbat was almost here! The student frantically looked around for anywhere he could stay for Shabbat, finally he found an old shack and to his surprise an old Yid(Jew) lived there, he eagerly aggreed to let him stay there for Shabbat. The Shabbat went by and before the student left, the old Yid asked him one Question:”How are the Jews in Galut (exile)?” The student replied without thinking:”the Yid gets along”. As soon as he had said this, he remembered his Rabbi’s advice he was so distraught He returned back to the Ba’al Shem Tov without going to Israel. the Rabbi asked him did you keep my advice? The student replied with anguish :”No! I have broken your advice!” He told him of the old yid and his question, when the Rabbi heard what he had answered he began crying and crying. Finally when he stopped the student exclaimed:”what is it? What is it Rabbi?what have I done?” And this is what the Rabbi said:

“I saw in heaven Avraham Avinu begging in front of G-d to end the Galut (exile) ,to end the suffering and to bring back his People to Israel, he was begging and weeping.  Finally God told him to go to earth and ask a Jew how galut is? If exile was really that bad? G-d placed Avraham on an island and sent him, you. Since galut isn’t so bad, as you said, the Geulah (redemption) is still on hold.”

Wow, I don’t think there is a need for me to explain any farther. This story really motivates me to remind G-d over and over, we aren’t ok with this Galut state we are in! We need Mashiach, we need The Gealah NOW! We can’t live in this fallen world any longer! Bring an end to all this suffering, sickness, death, sin, war, hatred, evil and so much more we can’t even list them all.

We aren’t excepting this state!
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”

Shanah Tovah! And may We hear Bmehrah Byamenu (soon in our days) the one shofar blast that will bring us all back to Him!

Tishah Bav:at the Kotel

This past Tishah Bav, I went down to the Kotel(western wall). It is just so amazing! Standing down by the wall, with hundreds of other people, all praying, crying, mourning, yearning, and singing. You feel so connected, to your people, to this land, to Jerusalem, to G-d.

When we all stand there by the wall, orthodox, mesortie, chilonei we are all one. It is so deep.

Walking through the the old city to the Kotel.image

עם ישראל חי!  Am Yisrael Chai!

On the funnier side, when the fast was finally out and we could eat and drink, I was waiting in line to wash my hands (נטילת ידיים) so I could eat bread, a lady brought her toothbrush and was brushing her teeth! 😂 (During the fast you are not allowed to brush your teeth, yep it’s gross.) she kept saying:”I just can’t do it! I just can’t eat without brushing my teeth!”

״אני פשוט לא יכולה כך! פשוט לא יכולה לאכול בלי לצחצח שיניים״

So that was pretty funny! Have a great day!

Just Jump- Will you Trust?

Processed with Rookie Cam

Two years ago I went rock climbing in Ein Prat, with my family and friends. Ein Prat has gorgeous springs surrounded by cliffs. (Perfect for rock climbing.)

Once I was got my  harness on, and was all tied up to my Abba, I started working my way up the cliff, it was so much fun!

I just barely made it to the top of the cliff, but couldn’t continue anymore, since I was already hangin’ in the air, with no where to hold on to. Just relying on hopefully a strong rope, and some strong arms behind it.💪🏼😉   It was pretty cool just hangin’ in midair and lookin’ at the stunning view around!

I started working my way down. Midway down I got stuck on a ledge, the only way to continue was to jump off the ledge, it was pretty terrifying. My ten year old brother was so scared  that he started crying when he got to the same ledge (boy is he gonna kill me for sharing this one). After I got a good “JUST TRUST ME AVIGAIL! “From my Abba.

I did it, I Just Jumped!(talk about a relief:)

How many times does God ask us to just trust him? To just JUMP? To put aside our doubt, our fear? And to fully trust him? What are we missing out on because of our doubt? Will we even know what we missed?

What is he asking you to do today, right now? Will you just trust? Just Jump?

Look what he promises to those who trust him: “But those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar high on wings like Eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31)

״וקוי ה׳ יחליפו כח, יעלו אבר כנשרים, ירוצו ולא ייגעו ילכו ולא ייעפו״
